Recharge Wednesdays
Activities are held on Wednesday nights throughout the school year and are designed to “RECHARGE” you and your connection with God to get through the week!
JAM 45: JAM 45 is for 4th and 5th grade students. The kids are picked up from school by the church van. This is a time to eat snacks, play games, and engage in a “BE BOLD” curriculum of lessons and activities centered around the Biblical view of social topics that are important to kids and families. JAM 45 ends at 5:00 p.m. We try to do a big event/activity once per month. These have included: taking a prayer bike ride around Milbank, attending the Fall Festival, delivering treat plates to our neighbors around town, and more! JAM 45 and JAM Jr. kids will also take part in monthly community outreach projects throughout the year.
Middle School Youth Group: The Middle School Youth Group meets Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. through 5:15 p.m. in the Youth Room downstairs. This time is for youth in grades 6-8! From 3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., we offer a time of fellowship, games, and snack in the Fellowship Hall. At 4:00 p.m., we begin our weekly activity time.
Middle School is a hard time for students. They are transitioning to a new school. They are physically, mentally, and spiritually changing daily! Middle School Youth Group at Central seeks to connect the Bible stories and Biblical truth they learned as children to the new challenges they face. They will be nurtured with the love of Christ, but also challenged to overcome any old or new sin they may be living in.
Wednesday Night Meal: A meal for EVERYONE is served at 5:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for a free-will donation.
JAM Jr: Children in preschool through grade 3 take part in JAM Jr. beginning at 6:00 p.m. JAM Jr. is a scaled down, age-appropriate extension of JAM 45 (see above). The evening wraps up at 7:00 p.m.
JAM stands for "Jesus and Me."
High School Youth Group: The High School Youth Group meets Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. in the Youth Room downstairs. All youth in grades 9 - 12 are welcome!
Youth will encounter a judgement-free zone where they can freely share what's really going on in their lives and seek grace and love from their brothers and sisters in Christ. They will be encouraged to take the next step in their faith journeys through Biblical lessons that apply to challenges they are facing, experiences that will open their eyes to the need for Christ in the world around them, and developing their skills in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Small Group Bible Studies: Recharge Wednesdays are also for adults! Central strives to offer numerous small group Bible studies that will meet the needs of the adults to deepen their relationships with others and their faith in God.
Nursery
Central Church has a nursery available for parents with children birth through five years of age to use during Sunday Worship Services and Recharge Wednesdays.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School takes place each summer with a different theme for the week. VBS is for children from age 3 through grade 5, and typically runs for 2-3 hours in the evening for five nights during the week.
Summer Bible Camp
Summer Bible Camps are an important part of the faith journeys of today’s youth. Central supports two main Bible Camps - Camp Byron Bible Camp in Huron, SD, and Victory Center Bible Camp in Ft. Pierre, SD. Central provides transportation to these camps if there are three or more youth registered to attend.
Kids Helping Kids
The Kids Helping Kids program was created by Central Church. This program helps families in need in our community who may be struggling with health, loss, and other things. Central hosts a Pirate Party each spring to help fund this program. Please contact Ginny Tostenson, Children’s Ministries Coordinator, for more information.
Kids Hope
Kids Hope USA builds life-changing relationships one at a time: One Child. One Hour. One School Year. Central Church trains mentors and matches them up with children within the area schools to provide these meaningful relationships. Please contact Ginny Tostenson, Children’s Ministries Coordinator, for more information.
BackPack Program
The Milbank Backpack Program is essential to families in Milbank and the surrounding area. It provides weekend meals for children who might otherwise go hungry during the school year. The program also operates in the summertime. The program provides food for 150+ students each year, and is run completely by volunteers. Please contact Jenn Falk at 605-467-3293 for more information.
